Their applications continue to expand and good performances are needed to improve the quality of the diagnosis. Moreover, significant progress has been made since these systems were originally based on single element ultrasonic transducers and are now made of transducer arrays. This work presents an experimental approach for the fabrication and characterization of ultrasonic transducer arrays and the various experimental equipments to use for this kind of studies. Furthermore, it highlights the presence of some parasitic phenomena that limit the performance of the transducer in particular the crosstalk. In this context an ultrasonic transducer array composed of seven piezoelectric elements made of PZ-27 was fabricated and successfully characterized by impedance, displacement and radiation measurements.Show less >
