Countertransference is defined as the whole conscious and unconscious emotional, cognitive, and behavioural response that the clinician has toward the patient. This paper attempts to summarize empirical findings on countertransference in forensic inpatient settings and present results of an ongoing study with forensic schizophrenia patients. To our knowledge, the influence of clinician personality assessment on countertransference and the differentiation in countertransference between nurses and psychologist/psychiatrist has not yet been reported on.Show less >
