Lire la suite >Sexual violence is a major social problem, and the misperception of sexual intent is an important risk factor. However, the lack of ecological validity for the operationalizations available to study the perception of sexual intent appears to be a significant limitation. The aim of this study is to develop and validate a collection of video stimuli to address this limitation. To achieve this, important developmental work was carried out with professional actors to account for behavioral intent according to a positive valence (i.e., some interest) or negative valence (i.e., an absence of interest) expressed at high or low intensity. With a focus on face validity and convergent validity, 17 video stimuli were selected and divided into four mutually exclusive categories of sexual intent. In addition to improving the ecological validity of the available operationalizations, the “Percept-Int” bank of stimuli can be used in different countries and is free to access. It can be used both for research on sexual violence and general research in psychology to better understand the development of the perception of sexual intent, including consent.Lire moins >
