The case-study of the cult of Renenutet, the « lady of the granary », shows that buildings meant for economic activities also left room for piety. Through epigraphy, iconography and scarce archaeological remains, this paper reviews the evidence for the presence of Renenutet in granaries throughout Egypt (but mostly in the Theban area). It also analyses the material conditions of her worship: situation and appearance of the chapel and cult statues, specific offerings, and staff members of the granary attached to the goddess’ service.Lire moins >
