I show how Mormo, for Imperial pepaideumenoi, especially Lucian, encompasses a vast spectrum of fictions, from oral, popular practices to written, canonical texts. Mormo is used by Lucian in order to depict different types of readers in relation to fictions, from the most credulous ones to the most skeptical ones. My aim is that for Lucian, the competent reader of fiction uses both a critical mind and an open heart in order to have an intelligent and sensible attitude facing fictional texts. I finally show that Lucian takes inspiration in Mormo stories in order to create several important episodes in his famous fictional text The True Stories.Show less >
