Various challenges, including climate change, pandemics like COVID-19, and economic, environmental, and social pressures, underscore the necessity for reevaluating supply chain planning. Contemporary decisions in supply chain design reflect a dynamic interplay between profit-seeking businesses and sustainability-oriented regulatory bodies. Over the past decade, numerous scholarly works have highlighted the pivotal role of AFSCND, prompting engineers and researchers to reassess their policies and practices. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the contributions in AFSCND. It starts with an exploration of network structures, characteristics, and paradigms, emphasizing sustainability considerations. Moreover, it surveys current resolution techniques, with a particular focus on the increasing application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in this domain, and discusses key decisionmaking frameworks. The perishable nature of many agri-food products is also investigated within network design. For managing uncertainties, approaches such as stochastic programming, robust programming, and other relevant methods that incorporate uncertainty parameters and modeling are also discussed. Finally, the review identifies drawbacks and gaps within the existing literature, emphasizing areas warranting further investigation. It concludes by outlining potential avenues for future research directions in the field of AFSCND.Lire moins >
