Show more >We study the propagation of transverse-rotational waves in a granular crystal in which the shear stiffnesses are spatiotemporally modulated by a longitudinal propagating wave. Asymmetric wave propagation isinvestigated as well as one-way conversion and transmission. The combination of different polarized waves and the potential of strongly nonlinear behavior opens the way for the construction of novel nonlinear mechanical metamaterials.Show less >
