Show more >Based on representative examples of interferences between sacred space and secular world in the pictorial representations in New Jolfa (Isfahan), the paper intends to highlight the beginnings of a secularization process that will allow the emergence of a renewed Armenian art in the course of the 18th century. The proposed examples include a variety of cases, from the intrusion of laymen in sacred spaces to the reuse of heavenly figures extracted from the religious context for which they were initially designed in a visual composition aimed at glorifying a temporal authority.Show less >
